History of Live Axle Machine Company

Live Axle Machine Company came about when I was building one of my own Jeeps and realized the quality of the kits I was buying was just terrible. I could make the same thing myself and do better, but I knew if I bought a CNC plasma cutter I could make things faster and make it look like it came right out of a factory. So I bought a CNC plasma cutter and started selling some stuff online to finance my own Jeep addiction. That was around 2011.

In 2018 I quit my job and picked up a couple of business-to-business contracts doing mechanical design and CNC cutting parts for oilfield equipment. I then added a CNC lathe and mill to Live Axle Machine Company, and then another lathe to be converted to CNC.

I have a passion for old live axle (a.k.a. solid axle) trucks. They didn’t use a lot of plastic back then. Things were simple and meant to be worked on. I can’t change the way things are going but I can preserve as many of these old vehicles as I can and help others preserve and improve their own.

As of writing this (April 29, 2022), Live Axle Machine Company does not do a lot of business off of this website, but liveaxle4x4.com is operational and processing orders. I do intend to expand online offerings in the future and wrap up some really cool project vehicles which will be detailed in the Live Axle blog. I do my best to make sure all products released by Live Axle Machine Company are thoroughly tested for quality and fitment. If you ever have a problem with a product of mine or want to offer some feedback or suggestions, you can contact me directly at zach@liveaxle4x4.com
